On October 26, 1994, Israel and Jordan signed a peace treaty at the Arava/Wadi Araba border crossing. The agreement was signed by Prime Ministers Yitzhak Rabin and Abdelsalam al-Majali, with King Hussein of Jordan and U.S. President Bill Clinton in attendance.
The treaty settled the border, addressed water sharing and opened diplomatic relations. More than three decades later, it remains in force, even through difficult periods in the region.
What do you think makes a peace agreement last?
