John Cleese was born on October 27, 1939, in Weston-super-Mare, England. After studying law at Cambridge, he found his calling in comedy.
In 1969 he co-founded Monty Python's Flying Circus, whose absurd sketches influenced generations of comedians around the world. In the 1970s he co-wrote and starred in Fawlty Towers with Connie Booth — just 12 episodes, but regularly voted among the greatest British sitcoms ever made.
What's your favorite Monty Python or Fawlty Towers moment?
